Promu officier le 14 mai 1943, John Daber est promu F/O le 14 novembre 1943. Il rejoint le Squadron 264 le 19 janvier 1944 avec le Sgt (Plus tard W/O) John Arthur Heathcote comme opérateur radar. Promu F/L le 14 mai 1945, les deux hommes recoivent la DFC le 24 juillet 1945 après avoir obtenu 3 victoires en combat aérien. Daber quitte la RAF en 1946/47.
